Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Dental Operations along with the Supervisor, Dental Assistant (RDA) and the general supervision of a licensed dentist, the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) performs supportive dental procedures specified by codes and regulations of the Dental Board of California. The RDA works with dental providers (DDS) assisting with various clinical procedures, recognized by the California Dental Practice Act.

Schedule: This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday hours.

Compensation: $30.67 - $33.51 per hour, depending on experience.

This position is represented by SEIU, with compensation and benefits determined by the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Salary is based on the wage scales outlined in the agreement. Responsibilities

• Prepares instruments and materials; cleans/sterilizes and maintains functioning instruments and equipment, prepares inventory on equipment and dental supplies.
• Greets patients in the waiting area and escorts patients to the operatory.
• Reviews and records medical/dental history and vital signs of the patient as needed.
• Reviews daily schedule to set up appropriate trays and instruments.
• Assists with various procedures, which include but are not limited to charting, taking and pouring up of impressions, and other chair-side duties.
• Adheres to “Universal Precautions” and general office safety measures.
• Stocks operatories and necessary dental supplies.
• Delivers oral hygiene instruction in accordance with the protocol and in cooperation with the health education activities of the clinic.
• Performs temporization, coronal polish, sealants, and any other duty assigned according to the Codes and Regulations of the Dental Board of California.
• Provides assistance to the dental department, front, and back office, as determined by DDS based on changing patient flow and clinic needs.
• Assures completion of forms and signatures; assists in the maintenance of patient records.
• Performs backup Dental Receptionist duties as needed or directed by supervisory staff in order to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the dental office.
• Takes, develops, and mounts necessary X-rays per protocol.
• Maintains electronic health record entries for each patient visit.
• Meets TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards.
• Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
