Pay: $18–$20 per hour.
Job Type: Part-Time / Weekend Overnight Schedule: Saturday & Sunday nights, 10:00 PM–6:00 AM
DESCRIPTION
Looking for a consistent overnight weekend caregiving opportunity? Cornerstone Caregiving is hiring an experienced Weekend Overnight Dementia Caregiver to provide one-on-one companionship, bedside supervision, and safety monitoring for a female senior living in a memory care facility. This position primarily involves overnight supervision, reassurance, and responding to the client's needs while she rests. Our client has dementia and may wake up confused, become restless, or attempt to leave the facility. We need someone who can remain calm, provide gentle redirection, and help her feel safe and comfortable. This is a quieter overnight assignment during periods when the client is resting, but the caregiver must remain awake, attentive, and prepared to respond when needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one overnight bedside supervision
- Remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the shift
- Monitor for confusion, restlessness, and exit-seeking behaviors
- Use gentle redirection and calming reassurance when the client attempts to leave
- Help maintain a peaceful nighttime environment
- Assist with bathroom visits and toileting as needed
- Help the client return comfortably to bed after nighttime waking
- Respond promptly to changes in behavior or condition
- Coordinate with facility staff when additional assistance is needed
- Document care provided and report important observations
Ideal Caregiver
We're looking for someone who is calm, patient, dependable, observant, and confident managing dementia-related confusion during overnight hours. The ideal caregiver understands that overnight dementia care requires attentiveness even when the client is resting. You should be comfortable providing bedside companionship while remaining ready to redirect, reassure, and support the client if she wakes up or becomes restless.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of caregiving experience preferred
- Dementia or Alzheimer's experience highly preferred
- Overnight caregiving or bedside sitter experience preferred
- Experience with wandering and exit-seeking behaviors
- Ability to remain awake and responsive throughout the shift
- Reliable weekend overnight availability
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Ability to pass a background check
- California HCA registration or willingness to obtain
- Required TB clearance
