Part-Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner | Waco, TX

Location: Waco, Texas

Status: Part-Time

Schedule: Minimum of 4 shifts per month, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts based on coverage needs. Standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM–8:00 PM, seven days a week.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Part-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in Waco, Texas . This role is ideal for clinicians who value flexibility, autonomy, variety, and meaningful community impact while practicing in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment.

This position requires a minimum commitment of four shifts per month , with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts when coverage is needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
• Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
• Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, splinting, wound care, and other applicable procedures
• Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
• Code and bill services appropriately
• Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
• Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Board certification:
• PA: NCCPA certification
• NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required
• Active DEA license or ability to obtain
• Ability to treat patients of all ages
• Active BLS certification
• EHR proficiency
• Ability to commit to a minimum of four shifts per month
• Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays
• DOT certification or willingness to obtain; applicable fees covered

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
• Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
• Experience with initial X-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced clinical setting
