MLT/MT - Full-time Sign

Rivers Health is seeking a full-time MLT/MT. Obtain specimens, performs analysis and reports test results within department standards and hospital policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.

The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.

• Collect specimens from patients in a manner that supports the quest

relations policy of the hospital.

• Conducts all tests with departmental policy and procedures.
• Observe and note test results, documenting and retesting any

procedures that fall out of acceptable range.

• Ensures adequate supplies are available to complete anticipated

Volume of test during course of assignment in area.

• Follows safety and infection control policies of the laboratory and

all other hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

• Conduct’s instrument preventive maintenance as required by

Departmental policies and procedures on all equipment, as directed

by departmental section head.

• Performs and documents all quality control as a routine part of

general testing.

• Performs proficiency testing as designed by section head in assigned

area.

• Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
• Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
• Participates in quality improvement activities including serving

on quality improvement teams.

• Other duties that may be assigned.
• Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and

Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or related field plus eligibility for ASCP and/or associate degree in applied science or related field plus eligibility for certification by ASCP and WV License.

Three years or greater of general staff tech experience preferred.
