RN Days Float Pool (Full-Time)

Our Float Pool Nurse position offers the unique opportunity to make an impact across multiple areas of care at ChildServe . Nurses in this role provide support where it’s needed most floating between our Inpatient Complex Medical units, Rehabilitation unit, and Medical group home. This position is ideal for a flexible, skilled nurse who enjoys variety, collaboration, and caring for children , adolescents and young adults with complex medical needs.

When You'll Work

• 6am-6pm
• Four-week scheduling rotation, every 4th weekend, 2 holidays per year
• Unit location will be determined based on need

What You'll Do

• Within the nursing scope of practice, physician’s orders, and the care plan, make decisions and deliver a full range of nursing care based on the fundamentals of the nursing process.
• Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by nursing standards of practice and Child Serve policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with residents, physicians, families, school personnel, Child Serve staff, and others to assure assigned child’s care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.
• Provide oversight of the care delivered by Licensed Practical Nurses and paraprofessionals.
• Provide training to patients, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child’s care delivery.
• Demonstrate good stewardship of Child Serve equipment, supplies, and environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• Current valid license as a Registered Nurse in Iowa
• 1 year of nursing or 1 year of ChildServe experience required
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 90 days and before working independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively in (or through) reading, writing and speaking the English language
