Important information for recruiters

  • Encourage interested candidates to review the program and open an application account before starting employment. Generally, nurses who worked in a nursing home in the 60 days before opening an account are not eligible, subject to a temporary exception for certain recent hires.
  • The nurse applies to the CMS program separately from the facility job application. Do not promise eligibility, approval, a specific payment, or the full $50,000.
  • The incentive is a CMS program benefit paid directly to eligible nurses; it is not a facility-paid sign-on bonus. Continue the normal hiring and screening process.
