The schedule consists of 3 12-hour night shifts per week, with weekend coverage required every other week.

Job Description

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) team is dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients with complex cardiac conditions. The unit cares for patients undergoing open-heart surgery and other cardiac procedures and supports a variety of diagnoses, including sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, gastrointestinal bleeding, and COVID-19. The CVICU maintains an average daily census of 18-19 patients and is equipped to perform advanced procedures and utilize specialized equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the CVICU.
• Administer medications and monitor vital signs while managing ventilator care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement patient care plans.
• Perform procedures such as arterial line management, chest tube insertion, and cardiac drips titration.
• Utilize Epic for patient documentation and ensure accurate charting.
• Assist with the care of post-cardiac surgery patients and other surgical interventions.
• Float between like units as needed, supporting overall nursing team efforts.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with cardiovascular intensive care experience preferred.
• Prior charge experience is a plus.

Certifications/Licensure

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Washington (compact license accepted).
• Current ACLS and BCLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred.
