Dental Assistant Apprentice

Are you looking for a career change or to expand your skill set? We may be the right fit for you! We are currently looking for Part-time/ Full-time Dental Assistant Apprentice to join our team. Our ideal candidate would be a team player and have previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting with underserved populations. Compassion for and an understanding of the wide variety of issues for those experiencing homelessness is a must.

Our DA team works in rotating schedules doing Outreach work in the field and in our Clinic. We work from a harm reduction model and believe in meeting people where they are at. We view patient care holistically and work in a multidisciplinary fashion to connect our patients to various resources within our organization and without. Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) offers a unique opportunity where we may cover Dental Assistant Training costs for interested candidates in exchange for a 2-year employment commitment , with a prorated arrangement if the commitment is not fulfilled.

We comply with all OSHA and CDC guidelines regarding PPE and have various procedures in place to safeguard employees.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position.

Minimum Qualifications

• Background in customer service or dental (MA, CNA, DA, etc)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Flexibility to work with multiple providers
• Ability to thrive in a complex healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited dental assistant program with current X-ray certification
• Experience working with underserved populations or people experiencing homelessness
• Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma informed philosophies
• Bilingual or Spanish Speaking
