Nurse Intern - For RN Clinical Students

This position is for RN Students who have completed first semester of clinicals.

The Nurse Intern u nder the directions and supervision of professional and practical nursing staff, performs routine duties in caring for infants through geriatric patients’ needs and unit maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs routine duties in caring for patients’ needs and activities of daily living, i.e., hygiene, comfort, ambulation. • Functions as an assistant to the nurse as assigned. • Documents and maintains data or patient’s record. • Demonstrates and promotes an awareness of patient’s age, growth, development, and cultural / spiritual. • Acts as a patient advocate. • Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team. • Participates in performance improvement. • Performs related work as required. • Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties. • Maintains patient confidentiality. • Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations. • Approaches situations with distressed patients, families and visitors in a calm, professional manner. • Maintains a safe and clean environment.

Required Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a RN program approved by the LA State Board of Nursing and have completed first semester of nursing clinicals.
• CPR- BLS
