Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift

Shifts will be rotating, mainly on the evening shift with weekend night shifts as necessary. The evening shift hours are from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM or 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, while the night shift runs from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM on weekends (Friday and Saturday nights).

Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform a variety of laboratory tests, including blood bank procedures while working comfortably with instruments such as the ECHO Lumina and Cerner Millennium LIS. This role requires a generalist who is adept at blood banking and familiar with the following instrumentation:

• Chemistry - Siemens Dimension Vista 500
• Hematology - Sysmex XN 2000
• Coagulation - IL ACL Top 350
• Urinalysis - Sysmex UA
• Serology/Immunology - Roche LIAT and Qiagen
• Blood Bank - Automated Echo Lumina, computer crossmatching, and tube backup
• Alinity/Abbott GLP automated track system

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret laboratory results accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain equipment and ensure quality control standards are met.
• Perform complex laboratory tests and procedures.
• Assist in training and orienting new laboratory staff as necessary.
• Ensure proper procedures are followed for specimen collection, preparation, and storage.
• Report test results and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience with Cerner LIS is required.

Certifications/Licensure

• ASCP certification required (AMT or AAB with ASCP acceptable).
