Helping Hearts USA LLC is seeking an exceptional overnight caregiver to provide compassionate, one-on-one support to an elderly female resident in a beautiful assisted living community in Hoover, Alabama.

This client has been identified as a fall risk and needs a caregiver who is alert, patient, responsible, attentive, and proactive in maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

We are looking for a caregiver who understands that quality care requires more than simply being present. Our caregivers are expected to anticipate approved care needs, provide reassurance, maintain professional communication, and demonstrate genuine concern for the client's safety and well-being.

WE DO NOT HIRE SITTERS. WE HIRE CAREGIVERS!

This position requires an individual who takes pride in caregiving, remains actively involved, and understands the importance of providing dependable support to both the client and the care team.

PRIMARY CLIENT CARE RESPONSIBILITIES

FALL PREVENTION & SAFETY SUPERVISION

The client's safety is a primary responsibility of this assignment.

Caregivers must

  • Provide attentive overnight supervision according to the individualized care plan.
  • Follow all documented fall-prevention precautions.
  • Remain responsive to the client's requests for assistance.
  • Support safe walking and mobility according to the assessed level of assistance.
  • Assist with approved transfers when trained and authorized.
  • Recognize and report unsafe mobility or balance concerns.
  • Encourage the use of prescribed or approved mobility aids.
  • Keep walking paths clear of clutter and obstacles.
  • Maintain appropriate lighting throughout the overnight shift.
  • Monitor for signs of dizziness, weakness, instability, or discomfort.
  • Provide calm reassurance and gentle redirection when appropriate.
  • Never rush the client during mobility or personal care.
  • Never attempt an unsafe transfer or lift.
  • Immediately notify facility personnel and the office of falls, near falls, injuries, or significant changes in condition.

The caregiver must understand that preventing avoidable safety incidents and following the client's approved supervision plan are essential responsibilities.

NIGHTTIME PERSONAL CARE & ASSISTANCE

Depending on the finalized assessment and care plan, responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with toileting and nighttime bathroom routines.
  • Providing approved incontinence care.
  • Assisting with protective pads or undergarments.
  • Providing personal hygiene and perineal care.
  • Assisting with changing clothing when necessary.
  • Supporting the client's bedtime and morning routines.
  • Assisting with washing, grooming, and dressing when assigned.
  • Providing approved positioning or repositioning assistance.
  • Helping maintain clean, dry, and comfortable bedding.
  • Supporting safe transfers between approved surfaces.
  • Maintaining the client's privacy, dignity, and comfort.

Caregivers must be comfortable providing hands-on personal care to female clients and must honestly disclose their experience and any limitations affecting safe task performance.

COMPANIONSHIP & EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

Our clients deserve compassionate caregivers who genuinely enjoy spending time with them.

Responsibilities include

  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the client.
  • Providing meaningful conversation and companionship.
  • Offering emotional reassurance and encouragement.
  • Respecting the client's personal preferences and established routine.
  • Using patient, respectful communication.
  • Providing appropriate redirection when necessary.
  • Supporting enjoyable activities during awake periods.
  • Remaining attentive to changes in mood, comfort, or behavior.
  • Encouraging independence while maintaining safety.
  • Supporting the client's established nighttime routine without unnecessary disruption.

Television, personal cell phones, or passive supervision are not substitutes for attentive caregiving.

Caregivers should respect the client's need for rest while maintaining the observation and response requirements established in the care plan.

OVERNIGHT SHIFT EXPECTATIONS

Shift Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Applicants must be prepared to provide attentive overnight care for the full 12-hour assignment.
