Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only full-service children’s specialty hospital and the state’s only maternity, newborn, and pediatric specialty hospital. Widely recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants, and children, the 253-bed, not-for-profit medical center delivers over 5,000 babies each year and serves as a major teaching and research facility. Kapi'olani is recognized for its expertise in caring for high-risk pregnancies, with a team of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physicians who provide specialized care for mothers and babies facing complex medical conditions. Kapi'olani is home to Hawai'i’s largest and most advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the state’s only Pediatric Congenital Heart Program, and Hawai'i’s only pediatric bone marrow collection and transplant program, where approximately 95% of patients participate in clinical trials.
