Join us at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital where we have been providing world-class care to our community for over 100 years. Here, we strive for patient-centered care and comfort with our collaborative team of healthcare professionals. We are committed to serving the community and treating our patients as family.

Akron General’s 52B Orthopaedic/Surgical Unit is a post-surgical unit that specializes in knee and hip replacement, shoulder, ankle, and spinal surgeries. Patients in this unit require immediate and frequent mobilization, which decreases their hospital length of stay and post-surgical complications. Frequent mobilizations have also helped decrease narcotic reliance post-surgery. This is especially important with patients who fall in the Comprehensive Joint Replacement (CJR) 90 day bundled payment. Patients who are immobilized related to spinal surgery or from long bone traction require more assistance for all activities to include bathing, linen changes, toileting and frequent turns to decrease hospital acquired pressure ulcers.

As RN on the 52B team, you will assist fellow caregivers in ensuring every patient has the best treatment experience possible. You will gain hands-on experience in various medical concerns and technologies, providing an unmatched advantage within the healthcare industry. Not only does the position offer the opportunity to positively impact the lives of patients but also provides educational and professional development resources.

  • Delegate tasks, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.
