Job Details
ChristianaCare’s Juvenile Corrections at Ferris School is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse II to join our dedicated medical team in Wilmington, Delaware.
In this full-time role, working 72 hours per biweekly pay period, you’ll provide meaningful, hands-on nursing care to adolescents in a structured and supportive environment. As the Registered Nurse II , you’ll serve as the on-site clinical leader, delivering direct patient care, responding confidently to urgent and emergent situations, and helping maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. You’ll also play an important role in fostering a culture built on accountability, compassion, teamwork, and clinical excellence.
Ferris School is a secure, ACA-accredited treatment facility serving up to 72 court-committed males between the ages of 13 and 18. Youth typically remain at Ferris for approximately six months, followed by a six-week transition program designed to support successful reintegration into the community. The youth served are identified as serious and/or chronic repeat offenders who may pose a risk to themselves or others and require intensive, structured rehabilitative services. Ferris School provides an integrated approach to rehabilitation that combines education, individualized programming, behavioral treatment, and therapeutic clinical services. Programming is tailored to each youth’s specific needs, with staff intentionally using daily interactions as opportunities to develop positive, pro-social behaviors and life skills. Treatment teams also engage families throughout the youth’s stay to support successful family reunification. Healthcare services are provided within a secure juvenile justice environment comparable to an inpatient or residential treatment setting. The clinical team supports adolescents with a broad range of acute and chronic medical, behavioral health, mental health, social, and preventive care needs. Services include health assessments, screenings, wellness education, routine health maintenance, medication management, and ongoing care coordination.
As a Registered Nurse II , you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adolescents with complex medical, behavioral, and emotional needs in a structured and secure environment. You will use strong clinical judgment, professionalism, empathy, and sound decision-making to manage challenging behaviors and respond effectively to urgent or emergency situations. This role requires strict adherence to patient safety, security, infection prevention, and medication-handling protocols. You will also play a vital role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment while supporting the health, development, and successful transition of youth back to their families and communities.
