A Brief Overview

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse safely delivers care as a competent-to-proficient practitioner of nursing. The nurse, at this level, demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems - specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. In addition, the nurse demonstrates clinical leadership skills by contributing to standards of care and unit goals. The nurse serves as a role model for other staff and a preceptor for new employees. He/she participates in endeavors to increase knowledge.

What you will do

• Competently scrubs on complex congenital heart cases.
• Makes daily staffing assignments.
• Participates in collection of specimens for clinical research projects. Identifies research projects that influence nursing practice in the Cardiac OR.
• Provides orientation for new staff.
• Develops systems that promote efficient and cost effective care and quality.

Education Qualifications

• Technical Diploma Nursing Required
• Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred

Experience Qualifications

• At least one (1) year Previous RN Experience Required
• Pediatric or area of specialty experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Strong scrubbing and circulating skills. (Preferred proficiency)
• Strong critical thinking skills.

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or
• Nursing Temporary Practice Permit (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
• Certified Perioperative Nurse - Operating Room Nurse Certification (CNOR) - Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) - upon hire - Preferred

SALARY RANGE

$101,300.00 - $129,100.00 Annually

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
