Position Overview

We are seeking an Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the Section of Surgical Oncology . The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in oncology and surgical specialties.

Responsibilities Include

• Patient population : Providing care for patients with malignant and complex conditions of the gastrointestinal tract (including liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and stomach), skin , and soft tissues (including melanoma and sarcoma)
• Inpatient care :
• First-assistant in the OR (robot, laparoscopic, open cases).
• Rounding on patients in the acute post-operative phase who are admitted to the hospital for surgical oncology and colorectal surgery
• Post-operative wound care and pain management
• Timely collaboration with consulting physicians
• Coordinating discharges from the hospital
• Evaluation of new consults.
• Outpatient Care : evaluates new and existing patients in collaboration with staff physicians, as well as a multidisciplinary team, completes outpatient documentation in a timely fashion, and performs clinic procedures as applicable.
• Hours : Monday – Friday
• Shared night and weekend call : home call for service during the week, and weekend call with inpatient rounding and OR coverage for emergency cases.
