NYU Langone Health: Critical Care Nocturnal Intensivist

NYU Langone Health, a world‑class, patient‑centered, integrated academic medical center, is seeking a highly motivated Critical Care Nocturnal Intensivist to join our dynamic Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) team at our Manhattan campus. Position Highlights

• Enjoy a dedicated nocturnist schedule (e.g., 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) that supports work-life balance while providing consistent exposure to high-acuity clinical scenarios.
• Deliver care at a premier academic medical center known for its commitment to quality, innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuous improvement in patient outcomes.
• Provide in‑house overnight attending coverage for the Medical ICU and rapid response team, ensuring expert-level decision-making and real-time support for trainees and nursing staff.
• Manage a broad spectrum of critically ill medical patients, including those with severe respiratory failure, septic shock, complex hemodynamic instability, and multi-organ dysfunction.
• Perform and supervise advanced ICU procedures, such as airway management, central venous access, arterial line placement, and bedside ultrasound for diagnostic and procedural guidance.
• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary overnight teams, including internal medicine residents, advanced practice providers, nurses, and respiratory therapists.
• Ensure seamless continuity of care through close collaboration with daytime intensivists, contributing to structured handoffs and shared clinical decision-making.
• Engage in academic and quality initiatives, including teaching of trainees, participation in simulation-based education, involvement in quality improvement projects, and contributions to patient safety efforts.

Salary Range: $285,000 - $396,000

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certified or board eligible in Critical Care Medicine, including Pulmonary/Critical Care, Anesthesia Critical Care, or an equivalent pathway.
• Eligibility for New York State medical licensure.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in clinical care, teamwork, and medical education.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a diverse, multidisciplinary environment.
