Assistant Director of Nursing

QUALIFICATIONS

• Registered Nurse license.
• Currently registered in Pennsylvania.

Applicants must have previous experience in a role of similar responsibilities.

• Knowledge of DOH and Federal regulations as they relate to LTC.

POSITION SUMMARY

The ADON takes the management lead of the facility by directing and supervising the coordination of all services and assists the DON with the managerial and clinical activities of tasks assigned. ADON will be placed on a call rotation schedule.

PART 1: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS

• Takes lead and conducts staff meetings regularly to keep nursing staff informed.
• Completes investigations in a timely manner and reports to the DON and the IDCP Team when appropriate.
• Works as a team member with all other departments to give optimum level of care, fosters a team approach.
• Monitors nursing staff compliance.
• Coordinate and integrate the nursing service with other services to provide a continuum of care for the residents.
• Maintain cordial relationships with residents and their families regarding methods of meeting the nursing care needs and other related problems of the resident.
• Conducts chart audits regularly and monitors nursing staff (RN, LPN, and CNA) compliance.
• Delegates/completes Pharmacy Consultant’s Report in a timely manner.
• Oversees nursing staff to make sure that residents’ needs are being met properly. Conducts daily quality rounds.
• Able to organize & prioritize daily work and meet deadlines for assigned projects. Requests deadline extension when unable to meet target dates.
• Monitors/delegates compliance and accuracy of Monthly Re-Caps done by nurses of respective units.
• Reviews the nursing staff 24-hour reports and brings resident’s issues to the morning meetings for resolution.
• Monitors compliance with: Narcotics Count, Glucometer’s function testing Emergency Equipment daily check.
• Keeps information open between shifts by reporting important issues to the off-shirts Nursing Supervisors through the Communication Notebook.
• Attends all meeting related to resident's care: Nursing Management, Restorative Program, Family Meetings, Morning Meetings, PI Meetings, etc.
• Monitor staff documentation of new admissions/re-admissions and develops respective care plans.
• Conducts staff meetings when necessary.

• Keeps current on new and revised DOH and Federal Regulations.

• Demonstrate the ability to handle stressful situations.
• Must be able to write & speak the English language.
• Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity & ability to work effectively with resident, family members, personnel & support agencies.
