Job Summary

Medical Surgical Floor - Iowa: This position provides nursing care for pulmonary and medical-surgical patients in an acute-care setting. Responsibilities include caring for patients with complex pulmonary needs, including ventilated patients, tracheostomies, and bilevel positive airway pressure support.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
  • Assignment Dates: 11/23/2026 through 02/22/2027.
  • Required Qualifications: Minimum of 24 months of current medical-surgical experience; required pulmonary patient care experience; active Iowa or compact/multistate nursing license at submission; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience caring for ventilated patients, including bilevel positive airway pressure and tracheostomy care; Level I or Level II trauma experience; charge experience.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information: The role supports pulmonary and medical-surgical patients, including patients requiring heparin infusions. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6. Weekend coverage is scheduled every other weekend or every third weekend, depending on staffing and census. Holiday coverage of one to two of three winter holidays may be required unless the unit is closed. First-time travelers may be considered when the required medical-surgical experience is met.
