Schedule/Shift

This position involves working three 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other weekend is required, with no time off approved during winter and summer holidays or on hard-to-fill days.

Job Description

Join a dedicated team in a 37-bed Behavioral Health unit serving adult and geriatric patients requiring acute inpatient psychiatric care. With an average daily census of 30 patients, you will provide critical care in a supportive environment with access to social workers, recreational therapy, pharmacy, and other interdisciplinary support services. Familiarity with Cerner for electronic charting and Omnicell for medication dispensing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in a locked, inpatient setting.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and manage aggressive behavior, when necessary.
• Implement safety protocols, including seclusion and emergency restraints as required.
• Document patient progress and changes in behavior accurately in the electronic health record system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.

Required Experience

• A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Behavioral Health setting.
• Previous experience in a locked unit and with seclusion protocols is essential.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current RN license in Maryland or compact state license required upon submission.
• BLS certification is required; certification in Aggressive Management is preferred.
