Position Overview

A Place At Home – Fairfield South is seeking a kind and reliable Caregiver to support clients receiving hospice care in Ridgefield, CT . In this role, caregivers provide comfort, companionship, and personal support to individuals during sensitive times. The caregiver helps maintain a calm, safe, and respectful environment while assisting clients with daily activities and supporting families throughout the care process.

Essential Functions

• Observe and report any changes in the client’s physical or emotional condition to the supervisor or care team.
• Assist with personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while maintaining the client’s dignity and comfort.
• Provide medication reminders according to the care plan (non-medical).
• Prepare light meals and snacks and assist with feeding if needed.
• Help with light housekeeping, including laundry, dishes, and keeping the home organized and safe.
• Offer companionship, emotional support, and a comforting presence for the client.
• Assist with repositioning, mobility, and transfers to ensure comfort and safety.
• Provide a peaceful and supportive environment for both the client and their family.
• Document care provided and communicate with the care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Always respect the client’s privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.

Skills & Qualifications

• Compassionate and patient when supporting clients and families during end-of-life care.
• Ability to assist with personal care while maintaining respect and comfort for the client.
• Good communication skills to work with clients, families, and the care team.
• Ability to stay calm and supportive during emotional or difficult moments.
• Knowledge of safe mobility and transfer techniques preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.

Education & Experience

• CNA, HHA, or similar caregiving experience preferred.
• Hospice or end-of-life care experience is a plus.
• Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and TB test (or willingness to obtain).
• Must pass background and drug screening (with random checks if applicable).
• Physically able to assist clients with mobility and daily care tasks.
