AI training programs · Expert contracts for frontier AI labs
Turing
Turing produces human data for frontier AI labs, mostly coding and reasoning work, and contracts vetted experts in other fields as well, healthcare among them. Its contractor jobs are listed only inside a signed-in Turing account, so none of them appears on this board: the way in is to create an account there and browse its list. Its healthcare expert roles stated up to $100 an hour when that list was read on 29 October 2026, and a Medicine Physician role was open on it on 2 November 2026. Contractor work is separate from Turing's corporate hiring.
Employer-stated
Is Turing a legitimate company to work for?
Checked Oct 2026 against 22 sourcesYes. Turing Enterprises, Inc. is a genuine company that sells data for training AI and carried a $2.2 billion valuation as of March 2025; it engages experts as contractors and pays their logged hours monthly, in its own portal or via Deel. Getting in means a long, proctored vetting, and silence is the usual answer for anyone not chosen. For a physician, contracts last weeks and may stop at any time, and some contractors say earnings sat unpaid for two months or longer. It pays Up to $100/hr (healthcare expert roles) (employer-stated).

What people praise
- Reviewers giving five stars like the remote setup, the flexible hours, fair pay and a helpful team.
- Each application status, and how long a review takes (anywhere from 48 hours to 6 weeks), is explained in Turing's help center, so applicants can track where they are.
- Onboarding is done once: a switch to another project needs only a fresh Statement of Work, with no repeat of the ID, KYC or bank checks.
What people complain about
- A common one-star story: hours or even weeks of tests and interviews, then no work at all, and a suspicion among some that the tests feed AI training.
- Some reviewers describe ID checks failing again and again (one points at a camera tool that crops the ID automatically) until a final rejection came with no way to appeal.
- Some contractors write that a cash-out of their earnings hung for two months or more, or that referral bonuses never appeared in their account.
- A few say Turing ended their contract without warning after signing, or never paid a signing bonus or $500 incentive it had promised.
What has gone wrong
- December 2025. EDU Arena, the Turing site where people learn about AI and test models, was named in a December 2025 dark-web post offering what it called a partial dump of about 415,000 rows (names, email addresses, usernames, hashed passwords). Turing had confirmed nothing when this was reported; a law firm in California announced it was weighing a class action.
Best for: Physicians and other credentialed experts (engineers, scientists, lawyers, analysts) who do well under supervised tests and live interviews and want brief remote contracts, often with a daily US Pacific overlap. Not for: Clinicians who rely on dependable hours or quick replies, anyone unwilling to show ID (passport or driver's license) and keep screen, camera and mic shared while tested, and anyone unable to wait a month for pay.
Honest catches
- Pay here is employer-stated, not measured live from a job feed, so treat it as a benchmark rather than a guaranteed rate.

Signing up with Turing
Researched Oct 2026If Turing picks you, it pays monthly for the hours you log; getting there means an account at work.turing.com (an email plus a resume in English), an application to one named role, that role's proctored tests and interviews (some use an AI interviewer), a decision that takes between 48 hours and 6 weeks, and an onboarding round of terms, two-step sign-in, ID, a tax form, payment details and a Scope of Work.
Eligibility
- Every role sets its own bar, and the clinical ones are strict. The Medical Experts post (Medical Doctor USA) wants a physician who lives in the US, holds a full license and practices there, has at least 1 year of experience after residency, and can give at least 20 hours a week across 12 weeks.
- A computer, not a phone. Tests expect a desktop or laptop whose camera and microphone are real hardware, a recent browser (Chrome 74+, Edge 79+, or Firefox at its newest version) and 4 Mbps of bandwidth at minimum; most of them watch your screen, camera and mic while you work, and none is meant for a phone.
- A current resume written in English; Turing uses it to fill in your profile for you.
- Proof of identity Turing will take: a passport or driver's license you can hold in your hand, still in date, and in Nigeria a physical NIN card too. It turns away digital versions, green cards and voter or tax cards (PAN among them), and your bank account must be in the same name as the document.
- For many roles, part of your day in sync with California: 111 of 235 roles listed on 29 October 2026 asked for time shared with Pacific working hours, frequently a 4-hour daily window.
- After selection, an authenticator app: the Turing work email you receive must be protected with two-step verification, and Turing approves only Google Authenticator for it.
The sign-up steps
- 1
Open an account on work.turing.com
Enter a personal email address on work.turing.com/jobs and confirm it from the link that arrives. You cannot register twice with one address; if it is already known, sign in or use Forgot password.
- 2
Build the profile from your CV
Turing reads an up-to-date English resume and prefills what it can; you then fill in the rest (basic details, schooling, skills, languages, past jobs) and submit. Only a submitted profile can apply.
- 3
Apply to one role
Pick a role from the Jobs page (filters for skill and category help), make sure you meet what it lists, and hit Apply Now; the form behind it takes under 2 minutes. Sent applications are final and can be followed on work.turing.com/dashboard/applications under Submitted Applications.
- 4
Get every test done quickly
A role may send you straight into proctored tests or add them afterwards as 'Pending steps', and review waits until each one is complete. Take them on a desktop with the full screen shared (a single tab or window is not enough), camera and mic running, and no incognito window or VPN. A test you paused can be resumed from that same page.
- 5
Book the interview when shortlisted
Almost every role ends in an interview, by Turing's own account, and it contacts those on the shortlist by email or on WhatsApp to set a time, and makes offers only after the interviews and whatever checks the role calls for.
- 6
Follow the status, keep options open
Statuses run Pending Review, In Review, Shortlisted, then Selected for Job; a role that went to someone else lands in Archived. Expect 48 hours to 6 weeks; if six weeks pass in silence, assume a no, as Turing gives no individual feedback.
- 7
Onboard after you are chosen
Depending on the project, onboarding happens either on Deel or on Turing's platform, and an email says which. In Turing's Workspace the list is: Terms of Service, two-step sign-in, passport or driver's license check, a W-9 if you live in the US (a W-8BEN otherwise), payment details, and the Scope of Work, all done ahead of your start date.
- 8
Receive your project logins
Access to the project's systems reaches your personal inbox no later than 24 hours before day one. If that message seems lost, search spam and the Updates tab for the sender no-reply@turing.com, which sends every onboarding email.
- 9
Log hours, collect pay monthly
The hours you submit for a pay period decide what you get. Payday for regular hours is the 5th calendar day of the month, with 2 to 3 days of processing on top, and a payment method set up correctly avoids delays.
Vetting built per role: proctored tests, an AI interviewer and human interviews
Turing tailors vetting to each project and client. Its description has three layers: first a match of your profile (skills, field, credentials, time available) against the work; then automated tests, from coding challenges in 18-plus languages to RLHF- and SFT-style task reviews and an AI interviewer that adjusts to your answers; and for complex or high-stakes roles, experts who review you and interview you in depth.
Format
The job post lists its own steps. Posts read on 29 October 2026 show the spread: an AI interviewer for roughly 25 minutes with a resume review afterwards; a take-home test to hand back within 24 hours of an interest form; a timed analytical challenge that precedes tests of writing and language; and, for coding roles, a pair of technical interviews adding up to about 75 minutes.
How to prepare
- Before applying, read the role page's Evaluation Process and Offer Details: they give the tests, the deadline, the weekly hours and how much US Pacific overlap is expected.
- Prepare the machine: Chrome, Edge or current Firefox on a desktop, extensions switched off, no VPN or private window, a webcam and mic that are physical devices, power plugged in, 4 Mbps or more.
- Leave the full-screen share, camera and microphone on from start to finish; a fifth interruption ends that test for you and locks it for 90 days.
- Do each required test the moment it shows up: an application with a test still open is never reviewed, and a timer keeps counting if your internet drops.
- Lead with the clinical credentials the role names: an expert post can make a US medical license a firm requirement.
Why people get rejected
- A void attempt: a fifth pause of screen, camera or mic, or a virtual camera such as an OBS or iPhone feed.
- An unfinished required test, which keeps the whole application out of review.
- Missing a hard condition, for example not living or being licensed in the US for Medical Doctor USA.
- A failed identity check (the document blurry, cut off, out of date or digital, or a name that does not match the profile); once a manual review rejects it, the decision is final.
- Silence that is not a verdict: Turing writes only to applicants it advances, so many hear nothing at all.
Tips to get accepted
- Check the Offer Details on every role you consider: pay was missing from 191 of the 235 roles listed on 29 October 2026, and PST overlap was required on 111.
- Four pauses of screen, camera or mic is the most a proctored test allows; one more disqualifies you on the spot and blocks a retake for 90 days. Share the entire screen, and never route the camera through an iPhone or OBS, which cancels the attempt.
- Your Turing profile has room for a first and a last name only, so enter them exactly as your ID and bank show them: a missing middle name, say, can block payouts until support resets your wallet.
- Apply to other roles while you wait. Archived means closed for good, and a formal no on a role starts a 3-month wait before that role takes you again.
- When you turn on 2FA at work.turing.com, store the backup codes. Turing will not email codes, a reset without them requires a form plus a photo of your ID, and being locked out of 2FA can delay a withdrawal.
- For problems, write to support@turing.com, or chat on work.turing.com, where Alan, an AI agent, answers first and can call in a human. Escalations are usually answered inside 48 business hours, and one ticket per problem keeps them moving.
What isn't public
- Turing has no published rate card. Pay was absent from 191 of the 235 roles listed on 29 October 2026; the stated figures mostly fell between $15 an hour and up to $150 an hour, or between $30 and $300 per approved task.
- Three Turing pages give three answers on when money moves: the 5th calendar day of each month (Project Onboarding), the 5th business day with a further 5 to 7 business days possible (Project Offboarding), and 'bi-weekly payouts' (its talent page). Which one covers which payment route is never said.
- No country list is published. Inside its onboarding, though, a country list (read 22 Oct 2026) marks 30 countries, including Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, China, Iran and Venezuela, as places under US (OFAC) sanctions where it will not verify an ID; with no ID check there is no onboarding, so residents of those countries are shut out. Its talent page puts its network at 140+ countries, while some roles take only US residents or a handful of named countries.
- Turing keeps its grading private: no pass rates, no scores, nothing on how the AI interviewer rates an answer, and no individual feedback to applicants.
- Whether a project runs you through Turing's platform, Deel or a partner for onboarding and pay is decided per project, by rules Turing does not publish.
- Its talent page shows a Trustpilot 4.3, but on 29 October 2026 Trustpilot's own turing.com page stood at 2.4 (203 reviews).
- Counts in this guide are a 29 October 2026 snapshot, taken from Turing's public job API (the source of the posts on work.turing.com), and posts change daily.
- For Nigerian applicants the pages disagree: the ID troubleshooting article lets a physical NIN card through, while Project Onboarding (updated October 2026) names only two documents for Nigeria, an international passport or a driver's license.
- No public report of fake Turing recruiters turned up, and Turing itself publishes no scam alert; the addresses it does name are no-reply@turing.com for onboarding and support@turing.com for help.

Frequently asked questions
Is Turing legitimate?
Yes.
Could Turing be a scam?
No. Turing is a real company. We could locate no Turing alert on recruiter impostors. Genuine roles and applications sit on work.turing.com; onboarding mail arrives from no-reply@turing.com, and the support desk is support@turing.com. Turing itself uses WhatsApp, so confirm any offer on work.turing.com. A fee to get hired is a scam: an archived Turing help page said joining costs talent nothing.
Does Turing really pay health professionals?
Yes. An established, well-funded company (valued at $2.2 billion in March 2025) with real AI-lab clients. Contractors are lukewarm to cautious about how steady its tasks are. Payouts: Monthly for the hours you log: regular hours are paid on the 5th calendar day of each month, through Turing's own portal or Deel depending on the project. Logged hours per pay period are what Turing pays for. Regular hours are settled monthly, on calendar day 5, with 2 to 3 days more possible before the money lands; any notice-period pay follows on the 10th. Add your payment details and they sit in 'Processing' for up to about 48 hours; hold off on edits to your tax details or profile until that check clears.
What does Turing pay per hour?
Up to $100/hr (healthcare expert roles). Turing publishes no rate card, but some of its job posts state pay. Read from its own job list (work.turing.com/jobs, which needs a Turing account; read signed in on October 29, 2026): 228 remote roles, 45 of them stating a rate. Healthcare expert roles stated up to $100 an hour; rater and quality-analyst projects $15 to $30 an hour; the other 183 roles stated no rate.
Is Turing worth your time next to a job in care?
Turing pays Up to $100/hr (healthcare expert roles) (employer-stated). It is remote contract work on AI beside a clinical job, not patient care, with no guaranteed hours. Worker sentiment: Trustpilot 2.4/5 (203 reviews) · Glassdoor 3.5/5 (789 reviews) · Indeed 4.6/5 (86 reviews).
How and when does Turing pay you?
Monthly for the hours you log: regular hours are paid on the 5th calendar day of each month, through Turing's own portal or Deel depending on the project.
Is Turing patient care?
No. Turing is remote contract work on AI, not patient care: you use your professional knowledge to review and improve what AI models say. Never share identifiable patient information in the work.
Does Turing have work for doctors?
It does post clinical roles. Its Medical Experts post (Medical Doctor USA) asks for a physician based in the US who is fully licensed and practicing there, with at least 1 year past residency, for at least 20 hours a week over 12 weeks.
When will Turing answer my application?
Between 48 hours and 6 weeks after your last required step. Senior and specialized roles sit at the slow end (3 to 4+ weeks), mid-level roles take 2 to 3 weeks and entry roles 1 to 2. No answer by week six usually means no.
Does Turing say when it turns you down?
Not reliably. With so many applicants, it writes only to the people it advances, sends no personal feedback, and moves roles you missed out on into Archived Applications. You may apply to any other role whenever you like; the role that formally rejected you opens to you again 3 months later.
Is there a second try at a Turing test?
Normally not for 90 days. The exception is a technical failure: give support the challenge's name or ID and it can reset the test for you.
Will a Turing application include an AI interview?
Only if the role uses one; each role decides. One example is the Business Consulting experts post (up to $150/hr depending on internal evaluation and location, 40 hours over 4 weeks): an AI interview lasting about 25 minutes comes first, a review of your resume and application second, and the offer last.
What does Turing pay?
Usually the post does not say. On 29 October 2026, rates on the 235 listed roles mostly spanned $15 an hour for AI Quality Analyst language work up to $150 an hour for business consulting, finance, legal and security experts, and a handful paid $30 to $300 per approved task.
Is Turing pay handled by Deel?
Sometimes. Turing-flow projects pay into your bank directly, with invoices and service agreements kept in the Workspace on work.turing.com; Deel-flow projects keep the contract, payslips and payments inside Deel; and a few people are contracted through one of Turing's partners, which supplies the contract itself.
Which IDs does Turing accept?
Only physical, unexpired documents: a passport or a driver's license, plus a NIN card for people in Nigeria. Green cards, voter and tax cards and any digital ID will not pass. Fail twice and a person reviews your case, typically over 1 to 2 business days.
