Fleet AI

Fleet AI builds reinforcement-learning environments that copy enterprise software such as Salesforce and Excel, so frontier labs can train computer-use agents, and contracts experts to write the tasks, reference work and grading criteria those agents learn from. On 2 November 2026 its careers list carried two such remote engagements, for US attorneys and senior paralegals and for mechanical engineers worldwide; neither is clinical, so no Fleet engagement is listed on this board yet. It is backed by Sequoia, Menlo Ventures and SV Angel.

Is Fleet AI a legitimate company to work for?

Checked Oct 2026 against

Mostly. Fleet AI is genuine and backed by venture firms (Sequoia, Menlo Ventures and SV Angel, per its About page), and both contract roles name an hourly rate, but the company is new and just two 1-star worker reviews exist. Neither open contract is clinical (one legal, one mechanical engineering). Each takes 20+ hours a week with its own scope and end date, the legal test is unpaid, a reviewer reports half their hours unpaid, and reviews are too few to judge. It pays $75–$200/hr (its legal and engineering engagements) (employer-stated).

Listed in our live directory

Who is behind it
Nicolai Ouporov, founder and CEO, launched Fleet AI, Inc. (fleetai.com) in 2024; AI labs use its environments to let agents practice real work and be graded. Its terms give Florida as its registration, its careers page a San Francisco head office and New York. Sacra reports a $15M seed and April 2026 talks on $50M+ near $750M; RuntimeWire's unnamed sources (June 2026) say $45M closed at $725M. Fleet has announced neither.
Getting paid
The two open roles are hourly contracts needing 20+ hours a week. Mechanical Engineering Specialist, open worldwide, starts at $75 to $125 and can reach $150 with proven quality; Legal Specialist, US only, pays $150 to $200. According to code on Fleet's careers site, Deel issues the payments. No pay schedule appears in either posting.
Worker ratings
Trustpilot 2.9/5 (2 reviews). Read October 2026.
Who can join
By engagement: its legal work is for the US only (Fleet cannot sponsor work authorization) and its mechanical engineering work is open worldwide (its postings, read October 29, 2026).
Fake Fleet AI recruiters
No scam using Fleet's name came up in our search. Apply on fleetai.com/careers only; on 29 October 2026 its contract roles there were legal and mechanical engineering. A generalist Fleet Fellow job at $50/hr lingers on job boards though Fleet itself dropped it, and Glassdoor reviews of My Fleet AI concern another company. Paying for work is never legitimate.

What people praise

  • Rates are stated in each posting, and nothing starts until the fees, the scope and the finish date are agreed; for mechanical engineering, a raise is agreed before it applies.
  • On the legal role, Fleet covers reasonable AI tool subscriptions, raises the rate for steady high-volume quality and adds bonuses per task for especially hard, well-done tasks.
  • Fleet is not anonymous: the About page names its chief executive, and three of its investors (SV Angel, Menlo Ventures, Sequoia Capital).

What people complain about

  • One reviewer who left after 11 days says half of their hours were never paid (1 star, 6 Sep 2026). Nobody has claimed the Trustpilot profile, and Fleet has not answered.
  • A second, anonymous reviewer calls it a scam site, saying Fleet demands a long assessment and never reviews it (1 star, 18 Jun 2026).
  • Selection for the legal role is an online test of up to 90 minutes that is not paid, and the only other contact before onboarding is a call you may choose to take.
  • Contract terms for experts are nowhere on fleetai.com: the one set of terms it posts, from 16 September 2023, governs its usefleet.ai product.
Who it suits

Best for: Not health professionals today. Its two contracts fit attorneys and senior paralegals in the US, and mechanical engineers anywhere skilled in CAD or simulation, who write solid reference work and give 20+ hours weekly. Not for: Nurses, physicians, pharmacists and other clinicians looking for clinical AI work (none is listed), plus anyone short of 20 hours a week, expecting paid screening, or outside the US hoping for the legal role.

Honest catches

  • Pay here is employer-stated, not measured live from a job feed, so treat it as a benchmark rather than a guaranteed rate.

Signing up with Fleet AI

Researched Oct 2026

Fleet AI hires experts only for its posted contract roles, and on 30 October 2026 neither was clinical; for either one, you send the form on the role's page at fleetai.com/careers (name, email, LinkedIn, the role's screening questions and a PDF resume under 10 MB), clear that role's screening (legal: an unpaid online assessment of up to 90 minutes; mechanical engineering: a first conversation and then a take-home exercise of three hours at most), and onboard, settling scope, deliverables, fees and an end date before you work a minimum of 20 hours a week.

Eligibility

  • A fit with one of its two contract roles, since neither is a clinical one. On 30 October 2026 Fleet listed only Legal Specialist (Attorney or Paralegal), for the US, and Mechanical Engineering Specialist, open in every country; a nurse, physician or pharmacist has no matching role there today.
  • For legal work, a background as a lawyer or senior paralegal practicing in America, with hands-on research, drafting or document review behind it; bar admission counts in your favor without being required. Residents of other countries cannot take this role, because Fleet does not sponsor work authorization.
  • Mechanical engineering role: professional engineering work in which your designs went through analysis, validation or production, plus hands-on CAD or simulation use (SolidWorks, Fusion, FEA or CFD software, for instance). Applicants from any country may apply.
  • Room in your week for remote contract work of 20 hours or more, the minimum on both roles.
  • Writing that shows your thinking. Legal applicants should be able to say why a conclusion stands, where the evidence is weak and why a mistake matters; engineering applicants need clear technical write-ups that give the result and how it was reached.

The sign-up steps

  1. 1

    Pick a contract role

Alongside its staff hiring, Fleet posts contract engagements for outside experts on the same careers page. Two of the engagements were open on 30 October 2026: mechanical engineering, which any country may apply to, and the attorney-or-paralegal legal role, limited to the US with its application window running until March 1, 2027.

  2. 2

    Complete the role's form

Along with your role's screening questions, the form wants a resume saved as a PDF of less than 10 MB, your LinkedIn, your email and your full name. Both ask where you live. The legal form also asks whether you hold a license to practice law, which description fits your current legal job, how many years you have practiced since your JD, your main practice area, and how many hours a week you can give over the next few months.

  3. 3

Legal role: take the online assessment

Screening is a legal task to review online, unpaid, with a 90-minute ceiling and its instructions given up front. Fleet's form may email you the link to begin the moment your application is in, so look in your inbox and spam folder. If you have questions afterwards, a short call is available but optional.

  4. 4

Engineering role: a call and an exercise

After a first conversation you get an engineering exercise to do at home, meant to take three hours at most. You see the instructions beforehand, and Fleet uses what you hand in only to judge fit.

  5. 5

Onboard and fix the terms in writing

No work begins until a written agreement covers what you will deliver, the scope, the fees and the finish date; extensions get the same treatment. From onboarding on you can start at once, with a Fleet project contact to scope tasks with you and check your deliverables.

  6. 6

    Deliver the work

On legal projects you may write an assignment with its case file, the answering memo, brief or due-diligence report, grading criteria built on the case file and the applicable law, and critiques of AI-generated work that point out mistakes in reasoning, facts, citations or conclusions. On engineering projects you may frame a problem (its inputs, constraints and files), solve it for reference (CAD models, drawings, calculations or simulation results), summarize the assumptions, boundary conditions, tradeoffs and limitations, define how a solution is judged, and critique AI output.

One assessment per role: a legal review online, or an engineering exercise at home

Fleet screens each contract role differently. Legal applicants get a legal task to review in an unpaid online test lasting no more than 90 minutes, and may book a quick call for questions. Engineering applicants talk with Fleet first, then complete a take-home exercise built to take three hours or less, which serves only to gauge fit.

Format

Legal: unpaid, online, a legal task to review, 90 minutes at most. Engineering: first a call with Fleet, then work done at home within a three-hour cap. Both come with instructions up front.

How to prepare

  • Pay, hours, location and screening all vary, so treat each role's own page as the rulebook.
  • Before opening the test, block out all of its time (90 minutes for legal, as much as three hours for engineering) and go through the instructions.
  • Make the reasoning visible. On the legal side Fleet looks for someone who can defend a conclusion, name the gaps in the evidence and say what makes an error serious.
  • Add a note to the engineering exercise covering what you assumed, the boundary conditions, the tradeoffs and the limits: such notes are part of the paid work too.

Why people get rejected

  • Living abroad and applying for legal work, which Fleet restricts to US residents with no visa sponsorship.
  • Less than 20 hours a week to give, the floor both roles set.
  • Answers without real professional work behind them: engineering expects designs carried through analysis, validation or production, legal expects substantive research, drafting or document review.
How long it takes
How long Fleet takes to review is not published. The legal role accepts applicants through March 1, 2027, and onboarding is followed by work straight away.
When you get paid
Fees are fixed per engagement before it begins. Legal work pays $150 to $200 USD an hour, more for steady, strong, high-volume work, with bonuses per task for especially hard, high-quality tasks and reimbursement of reasonable AI tool subscriptions. Engineering opens at $75 to $125 USD an hour, with up to $150 possible once your deliverables show their quality; a raise is always agreed first. Neither posting says how or when payouts are made.

Tips to get accepted

  • Go through Fleet's own careers page: a generalist Fleet Fellow role at $50/hr still shows up on job boards even though Fleet's site has dropped it.
  • Save your resume as a PDF below 10 MB, the only format the form accepts.
  • When the form reports that it sent you a link, use it: Fleet emails a secure link either to start your assessment or to complete an application that did not go through.
  • Hold Fleet to its postings: get the deliverables, scope, fee and finish date written down before starting, and do the same before agreeing to extend.
  • Doing legal work with paid AI tools? Keep the receipts: Fleet reimburses reasonable subscriptions.

What isn't public

  • None of Fleet's contract roles on 30 October 2026 asked for clinical or other health experience, and its sources say nothing about health work.
  • There is no published review time or acceptance rate, and Fleet gives no reason when it turns someone down.
  • How Fleet pays contractors, and how often, is not stated in either posting. The only terms on its website (16 September 2023) belong to its usefleet.ai product, not to expert engagements.
  • Rates have shifted fast: in one day, 29 to 30 October 2026, the engineering role's opening rate went from $60 to $100 an hour up to $75 to $125.
  • Only two worker reviews of Fleet turned up (Trustpilot 2.9 out of 5), each of them 1 star, which says little about how reliably it pays.

Could Fleet AI be a scam?

No. Fleet AI is a real company.

Does Fleet AI really pay health professionals?

Yes. A young program (the Fleet Fellowship began around 2025) from a fast-growing, well-funded company: Sequoia, Menlo Ventures and SV Angel backed a $15M seed, and RuntimeWire reported on June 1, 2026, citing unnamed sources, a $45M round at a $725M valuation that Fleet has not announced. Its staff include Anthropic and xAI alumni. Too new for aggregated worker ratings. Payouts: Remote contract engagements of at least 20 hours a week; scope, deliverables, fees and an end date are agreed in writing before work starts (its postings, read October 29, 2026). No payout schedule is stated.

What does Fleet AI pay per hour?

$75–$200/hr (its legal and engineering engagements). From Fleet's own careers list (fleetai.com/api/job-postings, read October 30, 2026: 14 postings, 2 of them contract work for experts; the same two on November 2). Legal Specialist (attorney or paralegal), US only: $150 to $200 an hour, with higher rates for consistently strong, high-volume work and per-task bonuses for especially difficult tasks, applications open through March 1, 2027. Mechanical Engineering Specialist, open worldwide: a starting rate of $75 to $125 an hour (raised from $60 to $100 on October 29, 2026), rising up to $150 with the quality of your deliverables. Both ask for at least 20 hours a week. Third-party boards also carry undated Fleet Fellowship listings at $50/hr for generalists and $80 to $200/hr for domain experts, which Fleet's own list does not show.

Is Fleet AI worth your time next to a job in care?

Fleet AI pays $75–$200/hr (its legal and engineering engagements) (employer-stated). It is remote contract work on AI beside a clinical job, not patient care, with no guaranteed hours. Worker sentiment: Trustpilot 2.9/5 (2 reviews).

How and when does Fleet AI pay you?

Remote contract engagements of at least 20 hours a week; scope, deliverables, fees and an end date are agreed in writing before work starts (its postings, read October 29, 2026). No payout schedule is stated.

Is Fleet AI patient care?

No. Fleet AI is remote contract work on AI, not patient care: you use your professional knowledge to review and improve what AI models say. Never share identifiable patient information in the work.

Does Fleet AI have work for nurses or doctors?

No clinical role was open on 30 October 2026. The two contracts it listed were legal work (attorneys or paralegals in the US) and mechanical engineering (from any country).

What does applying to Fleet AI involve?

Start on fleetai.com/careers, open a contract role and send its form (name, email, LinkedIn, a PDF resume of under 10 MB and the screening questions). The role's own screening follows, then onboarding for those who pass.

Is there a test at Fleet AI?

There is, and the role sets it. Legal applicants do an unpaid online assessment, reviewing a legal task in 90 minutes or less; mechanical engineering applicants have a first conversation and then a take-home exercise meant to need three hours at most.

What does Fleet AI pay?

Legal contractors earn $150 to $200 USD hourly. Engineers start between $75 and $125 and can reach $150 if their deliverables are strong. Every engagement has its fees agreed before day one.

Can I join Fleet AI from abroad?

Only for engineering, which takes people from any country. Legal work is restricted to US residents, since Fleet offers no work-authorization sponsorship.

What weekly commitment does Fleet AI ask for?

Twenty hours a week at minimum, on both roles; every engagement's deliverables, scope, fee and end date are agreed before it begins.
