As a certified surgical technologist, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth office operations.

Certified Surgical Technologist at TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital

The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities Include

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are properly sterilized and available.
• Scrub and assist during surgical procedures, maintaining strict aseptic techniques at all times.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures.
• Maintain an accurate count of sponges, needles, instruments, and other supplies throughout the procedure.
• Ensure proper care, handling, and sterilization of instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping under the direction of the surgical team.
• Monitor and maintain a sterile field, taking immediate corrective action when breaks in aseptic technique occur.
• Dispose of sharps and other biohazard materials according to safety and infection control protocols.
• Support inventory control by restocking supplies and reporting shortages or equipment malfunctions.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, staff meetings, and continuing education to support departmental goals.
• Uphold the center's philosophy, objectives, and compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Certification in surgical technology required
• At least 1-2 years of experience in an operating room setting, preferably in a hospital
• Experience assisting in different types of surgeries (e.g., orthopedics, general, plastics, neurosurgery, etc.)
• Experience working in high-pressure situations and responding to surgical complications
