Union Medical Center (UMC) is an acute care hospital located in rural Union, SC. As part of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS), UMC offers access to inpatient care, outpatient services, and a multi-specialty physician group all under one roof, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care. UMC opened the doors of our new state-of-the-art, 99k+ square foot facility in February 2025. UMC’s roots date back to 1921, when it was founded as Wallace Thomson Hospital, and we are proud to have been serving the Union community for over 100 years. With the new facility, we look forward to continuing to serve our community for generations to come!

UMC's 12-bed Emergency Department sees trauma, STEMI's, stokes, auto accidents, and much more. Our family-oriented and compassionate team prove that small can be mighty! Our team benefits from the wisdom and experience of their leaders, including a Nurse Manager and CNO with a combined 30+ years RN experience.

Position Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Companion functions as a support to the licensed nursing staff in performing activities related to the safety needs of an assigned patient. Employees are encouraged to support Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System's involvement in the community we serve.
