Position Summary

This entry-level position is for a Sample Preparation Scientist in a CAP-Accredited high-throughput clinical toxicology laboratory. The SPS is responsible for the preparation of urine and oral fluid samples for drug confirmation testing using LC-MS/MS technology. Duties include organizing and processing samples for batched assay testing using robotic liquid handling instrumentation, preparing patient sample dilutions, and submitting batches to LC-MS/MS instrumentation. The SPS may also prepare reagents as needed used during the shift.

Location and Hours :

Our headquarters is located in North Kingstown, RI. This opportunity is to work full-time (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday, every other Saturday from 4 pm to 12 am.

Requirements

Minimum Education/Experience : Must meet or exceed the minimum education requirements below:

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science

OR · Bachelor’s in Biological Science or Chemical Science: Transcripts subject to review. Primary Duties/Responsibilities :

• Prepares samples for analysis using complex instrumentation, including automated liquid handlers
• Ensures proper handling of patient samples.
• Basic LCMS instrument operations
• Maintains a testing workflow to ensure accurate and timely lab reporting.
• Documents all corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures using good documentation practices.
• Maintains complete and accurate records of all instrument logs and laboratory records.
• Works to build knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of all laboratory instrumentation and maintenance and troubleshooting, including but not limited to robotic handling and LC-MS/MS.
• Assists in performing other duties in the laboratory, when needed.
• Assists in training new employees
• Prepares solutions, reagents, standards, and controls in accordance with the laboratory’s documented standard operating procedures.
• Follows all safety, HIPAA and regulatory compliance standards

Compensation

• Annual salary of $48,000-$52,000 commensurate with experience, in addition to second shift and Saturday shift differentials.
