Start your nursing career in a fast-paced, team-focused environment through UnityPoint Health’s RN Residency Program. Our ICU nurses care for critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical needs, providing new nurses with valuable hands-on experience while building strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.
Our Bettendorf ICU is a 10-bed medical/surgical ICU , while Rock Island includes a 12-bed Medical ICU (MICU) and an 8-bed Surgical ICU (SICU) . Nurses gain experience caring for high-acuity patients while working with advanced therapies and equipment, including vasoactive medications, CRRT, and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP). Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 , allowing nurses to provide close monitoring and individualized care.
Nursing practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, UnityPoint Health’s Philosophy of Nursing, and the Professional Nurse Practice Model, fostering collaboration, professionalism, and excellence in patient care.
What makes our Quad Cities/Muscatine Market unique? Our Commit to Sit program encourages nurses to spend five intentional minutes each day connecting with every patient, strengthening relationships, improving communication, and enhancing the patient experience through compassionate, holistic care.
