CTICU RN Position Summary

The primary patients that will be admitted into Cardiovascular Thoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) are patients with cardiac, thoracic and vascular involvement who require intensive invasive monitoring and or vasoactive medication infusion. The CTICU RN acts as a patient advocate. The CTICU RN provides support, information and direct care and utilizes equipment and technology skillfully and is technically competent in nursing procedures. The Registered Nurse educates patients and families on significant self-care issues. The inventory, distribution/delivery of medications may be required.

CTICU RN Position Requirements

• Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse. Must hold a license in the state of permanent residency
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 12 months of employment
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification will be obtained during orientation

CTICU RN Work Schedule

• May be assigned to day, evening, or night shifts or a combination per departmental policy.
• Scheduled off at least three holidays per year.
• Required to work weekends per unit need.
• Expected to work overtime on occasion.
