About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated Histot echnician to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you’ll be a vital part of our clinical team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. As the Histotechnician, you will prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by Pathologist under the supervision of the Pathology Supervisor. You will prepare cytology specimens using thinprep and cell block preparations. You will operate computerized pathology equipment to prepare tissues and microscopic slides.

What You’ll Do

• Technical : Determines acceptability of specimens, maintains positive identification, and resolves and documents any discrepancies. Prepares histologic slides from tissue specimens for microscopic examination.Perform histochemical and immunohistochemical special stains. Perform quality frozen sections. Prepare cytology specimens using thinprep and cell block preparations. Demonstrates technical expertise and competence for all assigned tasks. Performs testing according to SOP.
• Equipment: Maintains extensive knowledge of instrument and equipment, including routine operation, proper working order, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.

Quality: Performs, evaluates and documents required quality control procedures. Performs quality assurance activities as directed by Supervisor.

Evaluation: Uses good analytical judgment and problem solving skills to evaluate completed work. Notifies Supervisor of problems and follows up as directed.

Information System: Demonstrates a working knowledge of laboratory information system, including basic routines and other menus.

Training: Participates in training and orientation of staff.

Inventory: Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory of supplies and reagents; ensures proper storage and disposition

What You Bring

• Histotechnician: A.A.S. Degree Histological Technician.
• Must be licensed as Histological Technician by NYS Department Of Education or eligible.
• Must obtain NYS Licensure within 12 months of hire date.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
