About the job

PREMIER HEALTH – SYSTEM SUPPORT

Department: Digital Health & Technology – Clinical Inpatient Pharmacy

Schedule: Full-Time / 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM / 80 hours per pay period (every two weeks).

This is a fully remote position; however, periodic travel to onsite locations may be required based on business needs, meetings, training, or project requirements.

If you’re a pharmacist who enjoys improving workflows, solving complex problems, and making a broader impact beyond direct dispensing, this Pharmacist Programmer Analyst opportunity at Premier Health offers a compelling path into the IT side of healthcare. This role is ideal for someone motivated by the chance to blend clinical pharmacy knowledge with technology, helping shape how medications, orders, dispensing logic, and pharmacy systems function across the enterprise. In this position, you will be responsible for application configuration, deployment and support, changing documentation, and educating and informing staff on EPIC Willow (Inpatient Pharmacy) functionality. You will anticipate business needs and think with a business owner mindset, using strong system knowledge and an understanding of organizational infrastructure to recommend solutions that help the enterprise achieve its goals. You’ll stay current with the Epic Willow system and other relevant pharmacy applications while coordinating across multiple teams to deliver meaningful solutions. This position also includes on-call responsibilities.

Premier Health utilizes the EPIC system as its electronic medical record, supporting secure clinical information management and enhanced patient care. Within that environment, the Epic Willow Team plays a critical role in supporting applications related to medication configuration, medication lists, medication orders, label printing, carts and batches, dispense logic, automated dispensing systems, preference lists, charging, medical device integration, and interfaces. For pharmacists looking to transition into healthcare IT, this is an opportunity to make a systems-level impact on patient care, medication safety, and operational excellence.

Premier Health offers the kind of environment professionals value: a mission-driven health system where technology and clinical expertise work together to improve outcomes. Team members are given the opportunity to grow, contribute to high-impact projects, and build expertise in one of healthcare’s most important clinical applications. Employees are often drawn to organizations like Premier Health because they can see how their work matters, feel supported in their development, and collaborate with colleagues who are equally committed to quality care and continuous improvement.

In this role, you’ll feel connected not only to the pharmacy and IT teams, but to the larger mission of supporting clinicians and patients across the enterprise. You’ll partner with users, analysts, leaders, developers, vendors, and consultants, translating technical concepts into practical solutions that improve day-to-day operations. It’s the kind of position that can be especially rewarding for pharmacists who want to remain close to clinical operations while expanding into application support, optimization, and systems strategy. Many professionals in similar roles find satisfaction in the variety of project work, the collaborative atmosphere, and the opportunity to become a trusted expert at the intersection of pharmacy and technology.

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility based on operational needs. Participation in a 24/7 on-call support rotation is required to support the critical clinical and business needs of the organization.

Previous end-user experience with the Epic Willow module is preferred. Epic Willow certification is highly desirable but not required at the time of hire. Candidates selected for this position must obtain Epic Willow certification within six (6) months of their hire date. Must have a valid Pharmacy license, Ohio license preferred.

  • Provide back-up assistance to team members and share knowledge and education across the team
  • Research, learn, and apply Premier Health IT policies, procedures, and practices, especially around change management, incident handling, and service level agreements
  • Participate in projects as the Willow representative, including system design documentation, procedures, process flows, and data flows
  • Recommend system enhancements or replacements based on business and operational needs
  • Evaluate software and hardware products and make recommendations to improve operations or processes
  • Coordinate across multiple teams to deliver enterprise solutions
  • Participate in a 24 x 7 on-call support rotation

Note: 100% REMOTE/work-from-home opportunity available.

  • Previous Epic Willow end-user experience preferred
  • Specialized knowledge of Epic Willow or relevant EMR systems, clinical applications, interfaces, and device integration
  • Ability to analyze and resolve system integration problems
  • Understanding of INPATIENT pharmacy, clinical, and/or business operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with users, colleagues, developers, and organizational leadership
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional work teams with minimal supervision
