EMERGENCY, Registered Nurse, Full-Time, Day Shift

POSITION SUMMARY: The RN provides direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and families; and reflects initiative and responsibility consistent with professional expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following represents the essential functions of this position. Other duties may be required as needed.

• Perform initial assessments, take vital, and monitor patient conditions, reporting changes to charge nurse.
• Assist with emergency procedures, wound care, and dressing changes.
• Start IVs, hang/monitor/discontinue IV fluids, and administer medications within the nursing scope of practice.
• Administer and monitor medications in accordance with physicians’ orders.
• Evaluate patient progress and report changes in condition.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient status, symptomatology, and diagnostic results.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation in the medical record with CPSI access.
• Review discharge instructions with patients and families.
• Assist in maintaining a stocked and clean department.
• Respond appropriately in high stress and fast paced environments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program
• Current RN license in the State of Georgia
• Minimum of two (2) years of ED experience preferred
• Current BLS certification
• ACLS certification or within 3 months of employment
• PALS certification within 6 months of employment preferred
• CPI training to be completed within 6 months of hire
