Salary Range: $36.93/Hour - $53.18/Hour + 18% PRN Differential

Position Summary

The RN is responsible for the complete Nursing Process for outpatients. The RN performs responsibilities in the areas of clinician, teacher, researcher, and leader. This position involves managing patient peri-procedure care for urological and gynecological procedures and assisting with urological nursing operations throughout the facility by serving as expert GU resource. Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of the TBI/SCI patient and family in regard to all aspects of their care. Assimilates contributions of the interdisciplinary team to assure the best possible outcomes are achieved. Maintains professional relationships at all times.

Position Requirements

• Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current Colorado RN license and current BLS for the Health Care Provider certification required. ACLS and specialty certification (CNRN, CRRN or Urology) preferred.
• Education: Graduate of a nursing program from an accredited college or university required. Graduate of a CCNE or NLNAC accredited school of nursing preferred; BSN required .
• Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience preferred.
• Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures in neuroscience and acute med/surg in the rehabilitation setting strongly preferred. Ability to assess patient and family needs and coordinate an appropriate nursing plan of care. Knowledge of patient safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated with a positive attitude. Bilingual – Spanish preferred.

Essential Functions

• Practice according to the ANA Code of Ethics and within the scope of an RN according to the Colorado Nurse Practice Act.
• Demonstrate competency in time management, organization, prioritization & critical thinking by planning and organizing work assignments and prioritizing the specific needs of the patients.
• Utilize a consistent, patient-focused care approach to meet patient needs and demonstrate initiatives to utilize a holistic approach to identify patient needs.
• Utilize analytical skills and advanced assessment skills necessary to assess a patient's condition and utilize that data through the nursing process and clinical judgment to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Safely administer medications following the 5 Rights of Medication Administration and policy/procedure. Report errors, near misses or adverse drug reactions in a timely and efficient manner.
• Demonstrate competency at expert level to care for patients undergoing invasive GU or GYN procedure(s) and/or surgery.
• Prepare and maintain a record of observations and care given. Document information clearly and completely utilizing correct forms and in a timely manner according to hospital policy.
• Coordinate nursing care activities in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to facilitate achievement of overall goals.
• Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as requested.
• Use Standards of Care and hospital policies/procedures to guide practice.
• Use bodies, tools, or special devices to safely, effectively, and efficiently to move, guide, or place patients. Involve some latitude for judgment with regard to precision attained and the selection of what adaptive device(s) to utilize.
• Educate and prepare the patient/family for future self-management by facilitating patient movement from passive to an active partnership and, eventually, to a personal self-care expert.
• Provide direction and supervision of ancillary nursing personnel, demonstrate professional judgment, use problem-solving techniques and delegate appropriately.
