Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Trauma PICU will provide specialized care to patients requiring critical interventions. This unit supports a variety of trauma cases, and the RN will collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and evaluate nursing care plans. Responsibilities may include monitoring patient vitals, administering medications, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Trauma PICU setting.
• Monitor patient conditions and vital signs.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive care.
• Document patient progress and interventions in the medical record.
• Maintain compliance with infection control protocols.

Required Experience

• Clinical experience in emergency, critical care, or flight nursing is required.
• Previous experience working in a trauma program is preferred.
• Experience in entering information into and extracting reports from a trauma database is preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Alaska RN license in hand at time of submission is required.
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required on hire.
• TNCC certification is required within 3 months.
• Continuing education focused on obtaining TCRN (Trauma Care Registered Nurse) is preferred.
