Share of staff RN job postings that state pay, by state (CareJobs. Now, measured 22 October 2026) What it is: for each state, how many open staff registered nurse postings on CareJobs. Now that night stated an hourly or yearly pay figure, out of all staff RN postings in that state. Where the postings come from: CareJobs. Now reads the public career sites of about 1,700 hospitals, health systems and care employers every night (not other job boards). One count per job, however many towns it lists. Which postings count: staff RN roles only. Travel, per diem and PRN, LPN, leadership (manager, director, supervisor), educator and faculty roles are left out, so the share compares like with like. Reading it: in the ten states whose laws require pay in job postings and where there are enough postings (Washington, Minnesota, New Jersey, Maryland, New York, Virginia, California, Massachusetts, Illinois, Colorado; each law in force since 1 July 2026 or earlier), the share runs from 75% to 94%, and across them 81% of 7,328 postings state pay, against 25% of 15,284 in the 29 states without such a law. Two newer posting laws are in neither group while employers catch up: Connecticut's (in force since 1 October 2026, 22% that night) and Maine's (since 29 July 2026, 17%); nor is Rhode Island, whose law requires pay on request only. Which employers a state has shapes its figure: one large system that states pay, or does not, can move a smaller state. License: CC BY 4.0, credit "CareJobs.Now".
